The essence of Yolanda’s art is romance…every painting has a story…

Yolanda de Rue brings a distinctively European influence to her artwork which is driven by a unique blend of story, metaphor and romance. Her paintings have been likened to the work of Chagall and the French symbolist Odilon Redon.

Surrounded by European art and literature as a child she developed the visual repertoire that has become the source of her inspiration. Her first teachers in art and design were her parents.

Yolanda’s father, an artist from Amsterdam, lived and worked amongst Holland’s most acclaimed pre and post war artists in the artist’s colony of Laren and her mother designed and created haute couture garments for wealthy clients in The Hague.

In 1957 this free thinking couple packed up their paints, canvas and fabrics and came to Tasmania where Yolanda started painting with oils at five years of age. Her life has been driven by art and creativity ever since.

With sales in Australia, Europe and United States Yolanda’s art has a global appeal.
